On behalf of the team here at Smart Works Edinburgh, we would like to say a huge THANK YOU to our incredible volunteers who have continued to support us through the tumultuous last few months and year.
In celebration of our volunteers we hosted a lovely evening last week where each volunteer had the opportunity to ‘Show & Tell’ an item with the group that has given them comfort or joy during lockdown, and to speak about one of the first things they wanted to do once lockdown is over. The evening was particularly fun to learn about the myriad of interesting ways that everyone has been keeping busy during lockdown.
From our power lifting femme fatale, Cathy, achieving an unofficial world record for over 60s in her makeshift at home gym, to volunteers knotting wool to make rugs, playing the cello, partaking in zoom book clubs, watching theatre and online productions to support small theatre companies, and so much more, it is clear that we have an incredibly talented community here.
We are so grateful for this incredible community of volunteers, and want to thank you again for the constant support. It is thanks to you, our volunteers, supporters, referral partners, and more, that it is still possible for us to support unemployed women through the interview process, equipping them to feel prepared and dressing them to feel confident.
