Our Scottish Smart Works centre in Edinburgh opened in 2014 to help as many women as possible with the tools they need for their job search, and we’ll be opening a new centre in Glasgow in October 2022.
Smart Works Edinburgh has supported 1000’s of women into employment since opening in August 2014. Our clients come from a wide range of diverse backgrounds and age groups. To be eligible for the Smart Works service all we require is that the woman attending has a job interview.
We want every client to leave Smart Works after a two-hour session believing that she can and will succeed. We give our clients a complete outfit of clothes and accessories, which is theirs to keep, as well as advice on presentation. We also provide one-to-one interview training delivered by experienced volunteers.
The two hours our clients spend at Smart Works has an incredibly positive impact on their confidence and self-esteem. The Smart Works service is delivered by our team of 30 skilled and trained volunteers.
The work we do means that 72% of our clients go on to get a job within one month of their appointment with us; something which wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated team of volunteers and staff members.
